Source: - The National Democratic Congress (NDC) says its two suspended parliamentary candidates cannot contest on the ticket of the party in the 2016 elections, until they are cleared by the party’s disciplinary committee.

The two are Samuel Nartey George for the Ningo Prampram Constituency, and Nii Amasa Namoale, the incumbent Member of Parliament for the La Dadekotopon Constituency.
The party in a letter confirming their suspension said the two candidates breached party’s regulations by their acts of insubordination during the November primaries that elected them.

Speaking to Citi News, the Greater Accra Regional Deputy Organiser of the NDC, Anthony Nukpenu, said although Mr. Namoale is a Member of Parliament, he will still have to answer some questions before the committee in order to be cleared for the 2016 elections.

“Until the party sends his letter to the Electoral Commission to file on the party’s ticket, he cannot be a candidate if he has not cleared his issues before the disciplinary committee and the region, for their actions exhibited after the polls.”

Mr. Nukpenu said in the case of Mr. Namoale, a by-election would not be necessary as he is still a member of the party and had not resigned.

He however stated that the party does not take his actions lightly and said he is “to go before the committee and make his case clear there.”

Sam George will also have to appear before the disciplinary committee to clear his name.

Mr. Nukpenu said by next week, they will be summoned to appear before the disciplinary committee of the region where they will be taken through the process to clear themselves.”

Sam George has been accused of contravening Article 41 (3a) and 40 (8b & c) by instigating some party members against regional executives and the party’s monitoring team during the primaries.

He is also accused of granting interviews to the media during which he alleged that the regional executives have instigated fraud to benefit his contender, Mr E. T. Mensah, whom he convincingly defeated.

Nii Amasa Namoale is said to have also contravened Article 40 (8c) when he granted interview to the media and accused the regional executives of acting fraudulently and described some of them as “fraudsters and pickpockets”.
