Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) ASP Ebenezer Tetteh disclosed to ultimatefmonline.com that, the suspect and his accomplice hired the services of the tricycle driver to the area, off the Salaga road.
According to him, the victim met a motor rider and narrated to him what had just befallen him. The Good Samaritan managed to alert residents of the next community who were ready awaiting the arrival of the two criminals.
While they were approaching the community, they spotted residents on the middle of the road ready to pounce on them. But for fear of being lynched, they abandoned the tricycle and took to their heels but were given a hot chase by the angry residents who pursued them until one of them dived into a local river.
The suspect for fear of drowning primarily because he could not swim was arrested and handed over to the police who indicate they will arraign him before court later this week.
Residents, however, believe his accomplice is feared dead because several hours of waiting at the banks of the river saw no sign of him.
